The aim of this exploratory study is to investigate total heavy metal (HM) concentrations in European forest soils. The study is based on data from the Combined Forest Soil Condition Database (FSCDB.LI) of ICP Forests holding descriptive and analytical information of soil samples obtained from two soil surveys on the ICP Forests’ Level I systematic grid, a 16 x 16 km grid covering over 5000 forested sampling locations within Europe.
